Terbinafine is used for fungal infections treatment both on the fingernail and toenail. Terbinafine belongs to such class as antifungal. The aim of the medication is to stop the fungi growth.

Usage
Lamisil or Terbinafine is used orally and comes as tablets.

The usual order is to take the meds once a day for six weeks for fingernail fungus and the same frequency (once a day) but twelve weeks for toenail fungus. It is strongly recommended to follow the recommendations given in the prescription carefully.

In case you did not grasp any part of the prescription, consult your doctor or the pharmacist and ask about the information which is not clear for you. Do not take the dosage less or bigger than it is prescribed.
Remember that after the course of the treatment do not expect your nails to be completely healthy. Time should pass for a new healthy nail to grow in. Usually, it takes about some months.

Precautions
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have allergy to Terbinafine, its components or other meds. Also, it is very important to tell the doctor or the pharmacist what medications and/or vitamins, prescribed or not. It is good to mention about any herbal products and nutritional supplements. Make sure to say about blood thinners (among them Coumadin, Elavil, Asendin, Anafranil, Norpramin Adapin, Sinequan, Tofranil, Aventyl, Pamelor, Vivactil, and Surmontil); beta-blockers (Tenormin, Normodyne, Lopressor, Toprol XL, Corgard, and Inderal; etc.
Kedney and liver disease should be also mentioned.
Women should tell the doctor about their plans to have a baby in the nearest future and about their breast-feeding.
There is no special warning about the diet, that is why you can follow it.

Missing a dose
It is recommended to take the dose as soon as you remember it, but if you see it id close to the time for the next dose, just wait and start following your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the regular dose by your own; this is only the doctor who can change the dosage.

Side effects
You will experience some side effects if you feel any of the given below symptoms. These can be: diarrhea, itching, upset stomach, stomach pain, hives, rash, changes in taste or loss of taste.
Here are more unusual and rear symptoms, and they are more serious for the patient
